i am glad that i played this game , because i got incredible emotions. I wish the author to continue in the same spirit and believe in himself. I will remember this experience.
dash hit combo too strong just do a normal dash make it quite far then turn around to slam attack the dude just instant die. I killed him 5 times the same tactic and he gave up.
Hey Mosu, hello ! How can I reach you ? I've just finished the game, and I'd like to help (for free, in case you were wondering) with a translation from English to French. Tell me if you're interested, I loved your game and I'd gladly help :)
10/10 Jogaço em! Adorei! Me senti um chefão final no começo, depois tive a sensação de como é estar na pele deles e descobrir que meu destino é morrer.
I played The Dark Queen of Mortholme a few months ago, and somehow, it still enraptures me anytime i think about it. It keeps coming up in conversations—not because I’m trying to bring it up, but because it left that deep of an impression. There’s something so beautifully simple and powerful about the core concept that it sticks with you.
I almost never write reviews, but this one pulled it out of me. I had to say something. I genuinely adore this game.
That said, I think the best way to experience it is to go in blind. Don’t spoil it for yourself. Just let it happen.
It’s short. It won’t take much of your time. But it might stay with you a lot longer than you expect.
I played the English version first and I loved it. Today I played the version "in Spanish" and some dialogues do not hit as hard, perhaps because I am from Argentina and the Spanish used is from Spain or maybe because the translator change the history to make a hero girl. I would be grateful to be able to help with the "Spanish Latin American" version. Mail me: Segavi@live.com.ar
The game is good but it is rigged, several times I had the impression that my shots did not hit and then comes a moment where for a reason unknown to me I do not lose life, so I take advantage of it to try to beat him, yes he is very hard to beat but.. I put him to one heart I give him another shot which is supposed to kill him BUT he loses his second heart again? not to mention the many shots that did not hit (knowing that I spammed him while being invincible for more than 15 minutes and with certainty that my shots were indeed on him). anyway it's a shame that the game is literally impossible to do infinitely because of the invincibility of the Hero :)
Its like the irresistible force paradox "What happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object?" the hero cant stop coming and the queen wont stop fight but in this case the hero upgrade every time and the queen still same. The end is obvious
THIS GAME IS BROKEN :/ Many times this little a$$hole stood in front of me tanking my punch and HIS LIFE DID NOT DECREASE.It's not fair. The game is simply broken, weak :/ The story won't help here
“20 minutes” you say? I just spent a solid 2+ hours playing this and I STILL kept finding more dialogue options.
for those reading the comments to find out about endings: there are at least five endings with unique dialogue, 3 where the hero kills you, 1 where you give up (and they kill you), and 1 where they give up and you “win”.
I was really hoping there’d be one where the queen was able to escape the cycle and learn to change, but if there is one, I couldn’t find it.
i don't think there is an ending where you win, you can lose in diffrent ways, kinda (how your character responds atleast).
but you kan "beat" (kill) them in the second fase. but they still comeback. and if there was an ending where you win, i think that kinda ruins the point of the game.
You can make him give up by winning over and over again in your first phase.
But your second phase is unironically weaker than your first phase (atleast from gameplay perspective), which makes it nearly impossible to defeat him enough times to make him give up in the "final fight" where dialogue says "Lets see your corpse burn one last time".
I don't know if this is relevant, but even if I was always going into the second phase because of beng bad at the game (it was my third run), I was actually able to kill the hero in that "final fight", but it lead to him coming back and having another dialogue, althought I couldn't see if there was an ending since the game glitched due to me killing him in the first phase with the normal melee attack at the same time he hit me with his sword, triggering the second phase while he was dead. I got stuck in the second phase, my hp bar was not showing, neither was the hero's, and the hero was stuck in a running animation loop, following the queen at her left, right under her. I then spammed the second attack, but the hero was ivulnerable, probably due to the glitch, and I died somehow, triggering the normal ending. I reached there when I was only using the first options in the dialogues.
Also, I'm unsure about this, but I think in my first playthrough, the one I got the ending where you say that you don't want to hurt the hero (I later died to doing nothing when I chose that dialogue option). Is there a different ending with it? I don't know if it is my memory being bad, but I think in that plathrough the queen never kneeled and just touched him to burn him to ashes, she skipped that and hugged him, before I even reached the second phase. Also, when I reached the second phase, I think that the torches were unlit instead of being purple, although I'm not sure about this one.
I loved it. Such a simple idea and yet the game makes you feel how it would be to be the boss. The relationship between the two main characters is the best part. Also I really liked that there is a brazilian portuges translation. Though I didn't need it it's very cool to know the creator thought about us.
I really enjoyed the banter between the characters and the way their relationship evolves as they play their "unstoppable force vs immovable object" narrative.
The game is made so that you lose in the end. The animations of the character we're fighting can be interrupted at any moment, and we're standing in cooldown while he slashes with his sword. There is no variation here, everything goes to the same ending. 2 stars out of 5
I think you missed the point of the game. You are never meant to "win" the game. Everything drives to the same ending because that is the story the game is telling.
I just played through this game in several ways, and it has multiple endings.
The first ending I got was that the hero left and never returned to us after losing (I kept talking to him and never got angry at him).
The second ending happens if you just stand still and do nothing—he will keep moving and progressing until we eventually die by his hand (we lose control).
The third ending is where he kills us when we enter the god state (or whatever it's called), but we didn't talk enough.
The fourth ending is also where he kills us in our god state, but this time he says that we have changed during our battles with him.

It has been magnificent, it fills me with inspiration. I hope I can create something as beautiful someday.
Played it for the "poetic" view since I'm not a very skilled player when it comes to boss fights, and enjoyed the journey! Thanks a lot.

Amazing game. There is nothing I can say that wasn't already said. Very beautiful twist to boss fights

The best Love story of our time!
Hello, I would like translate to Turkish, could you help me what i do?

Is there an Android version?
Loved it
Now make a visual novel where we go on a wholesome adventure and our hero spouse teaches us how the world beyond the throne room works
Yee another visual novel on itch.io....
Is there is a way to defeat the hero in your second phase?
Because I know you can do that in your first phase, but it just leads to the normal ending where you win.
I wonder if there is a second version of the ending where you defeat the hero via second phase.
(If there IS a second version of the ending where you win please dont spoil it to me, just say it exists.)
Edit: I dont think it actually exists. I made the hero quit via my second phase, but the ending didnt change.
I'll give it a couple more tries tho bcs I defeated him without reaching the fight where queen says "Lets see your corpse burn one last time".

A beautiful experience. Kinda sad now.
That was beautiful

This game deserve a payment
Yes. Absolutely.
I wish there was more but this concept only really works as a micro game, 10/10 thank you for making this!
I really got into character, I love being an evil queen :D Thanks for making such a cool game!

Loved the Reverse Dark Souls Mechanics.
Keep up the great work!
simplemente hermoso, me encanto alta historia y muy divertido los diálogos q tienen, buenos finales también

I got the fourth ending in my only playthrough.
You really missed the point.
Mosu could you please make a version for Linux ARM6
Nossa- quero dizer, nossa..
